The Crops and Canes chapter of the Old Peoples Riding Club gathered on February 24, 2008 at 4 p.m. for a membership meeting.  Those present were Amy Grimm, Kevin Yungk, Nancy Specht, Patricia Harper, Cindy Iwersen, Robin Laird, and Karen Young.   Each person renewed their membership for 2008.  Dues were collected and waivers were signed for the 2008 membership year.

Officers were elected for the year.  President: Amy Grimm, Vice President: Cindy Iwersen, Treasurer: Nancy Specht, Membership Coordinator: Patricia Harper, Secretary: Karen Young.

Discussion of club activities and upcoming events was a main focus of the meeting.  The OPRC National Rally and the new Year-End Awards program were covered.  Crops and Canes planned its next meeting for 4 p.m. on March 30. Some members discussed attending the Tri-State Riding Club event scheduled for March 29 which will focus on confidence building. Also discussed was the Battlefield Equestrian Society’s Crystal Crown Series judged pleasure ride on April 27.  A future meeting of Crops and Canes was planned for April 13.  The Crops and Canes chapter is excited about the upcoming year.  There will be many exciting trails to wander together with opportunities to help one another and share knowledge on good horse care practices and safe handling techniques.
