Like the name says, we are located in Simi Valley, CA. We are probably a little different in the fact that we originated as a volunteer group that rides for the Rancho Simi Recreation and Parks District. We are the Corriganville Mounted Patrol. We have several parks in the district that have trails for hiking, mountain biking and of course, horseback riding. We work with the RSRPD to help maintain the integrity and to keep the parks safe. The main park is Corriganville. It has a lot of history in the film industry. There have been over 3500 films and TV shows shot at the park. Going back to films like “Robin Hood” with Errol Flynn, 1938 to “Fort Apache” with John Wayne, 1948 and TV shows like “Rin Tin Tin”, “The Lone Ranger” and “Have Gun-Will Travel” to name a few. Any day you go there you might see trucks, cameras and props. Recently they have filmed “The Ultimate Warrior” series at the location. The Hallmark Channel studios are right down the street and they use it frequently. But most of all it is used by the families of this and surrounding communities just to hike and relax at a beautiful location. Other than that we love to trail ride and several of us do living history, not to be confused with re-enacting. Anyway we are happy to be a part of the OPRC and it’s extended family.
