Old Peoples Riding Club | A riding club for the over 21 equestrian and for all disciplines! ". for the learning experience, the fun, the camaraderie;
not the ribbon, or the glory, but for the memories ..."
Hope you have been having a good time horsing around this season.
Our bombproof clinic on the 19th was a wonderful experience. Deby Brown
abd Cindi Rothrock provided us with a great opportunity to work with our horses
and expose them to a variety of new stimuli. We have a number of pictures
that I will get posted to the national OPRC website. We are hoping to make
this an annual event.
A big thanks to all the others who helped organize, set up and run the
event, especially Brandon Breaux of Timberland Stables who provided us with
a wonderful facility where we could hold the clinict.
I would like to welcome our 3 newest members - Debi Brown and Cindi Rothrock
of Arcola and Donna Tresslar of White Heath. Donna and her daughter Eva came
to the clinic as auditors. Donna joined the club that morning and she and
her daughter immediately jumped in with both feet to act as helpers before
the ink was even dry on her membership application!
Our club has a photo gallery on the OPRC website, if you aren't on there,
if you want to be send me a picture of you and your equine partner i will
get it posted.
So that we can all be dressed in the latest styles, Sara will be sending
out a message soon regarding shirts that we can order with the club logo.
Our next activity will be a horse camping trip at Jim Edgar Panther Creek
State Park ( northwest of Springfield) the weekend of June 8th - 10th. Some
of us will be arriving late afternoon or early evening on Friday the 8th.
On Saturday our first ride will be at 10 am, then head back to camp for a
lunch break. This will be followed by an afternoon ride and a cookout. On
Sunday after breakfast we will have a morning ride. Let me know if you have
any questions about the facility or itinerary. Also, please let me know by
Thursday, June 7th if you think you will be going, that way i will know who
to contact in case there is a last minute change of plans due to inclement
weather or some other reason.
On Sunday July 8th we will have a day ride at Jubilee near Peoria.
July 22nd will be a road trip to Tempel Farms in Wadsworth to tour the
farm and see a performance by the Lipizzans.
Sunday, August 12th we will have a trail ride at either Shelbyville or
Middlefork.
Saturday, August 25th will be a possible road trip to Peoria to see a polo
match.
If anyone has any other ideas for activities please let me know and
we will get them planned.
Thanks!
