OPRC Membership

If you are 21 or older and love horses, then you qualify to be a member of the OPRC. Our members range in age from 21 up into their 70s & 80s! We welcome riders from all disciplines: English, western, endurance, saddleseat, hunters, dressage riders, barrel racers, trail riders, you name it! (And a few of our members don't even ride, i.e. supportive spouses and people who love horses and enjoy coming to our activities!) If you want to learn more and enjoy a variety of equine related activities, then membership in the OPRC is for you.

To join a club, first check our website for a chapter in your area. We currently have 20 chapters. You can download forms for membership from our website and get started today. Don't see a chapter near you? If you have 5 or more people interested, consider starting a chapter of your own. This website will give you numerous tools to get started, and our Board of Directors welcomes questions from you via email. Contact us if this is a direction you would like to take. We can send you brochures and advertisement flyers to help get things off the ground.

Once a member of the OPRC, you will be required to pass a simple D1 standards rating test to ride with the club. It's quite basic, and very difficult to fail. We require it to ensure that other members won't be endangered by a new member whose riding might be hazardous. (If you are a non-riding member, you will not have to take any tests.) We have standards of achievement that advance to very high levels of horsemanship skills. One can stop at the D1 or advance further to obtain C, B and even A ratings. (The B & A ratings standards are still under development.) As a riding member, you are required to wear a helmet, a medical armband, and proper footwear when riding in any club-sponsored activities.

Now that you've become a member, passed your D1 rating ride, we hope you will enjoy everything the OPRC has to offer!
